Description

A painting by the artist Rob Grams. The original picture was painted with oil on canvas (130 x 97 cm.), in 2021.
“Catharsis”: The process of releasing strong emotions through a particular activity or experience, such as writing or theatre, in a way that helps you to understand those emotions.
For me, good art captures a feeling more than a subject, that is what I was going for with this piece.
“Catharsis” was painted during the coronavirus pandemic. I, like most of you, was scared, frustrated, angry and stressed. I took those feelings and did what I know how to do with them, I put them on a canvas.
I turned up the volume tonally with this piece, I made it as loud and vivid as possible. My aim was to make something as cathartic to look at, as it was to paint.
