As we grow the more we see the obstacles rather than the opportunities, the effort rather than the reward, and the cynicism rather than the wonder.
Children aren’t more creative than adults. Children just don’t have a lifetime of worrying about paying bills, peer pressure, and self-doubt. They live in perpetual wonder, everything is new and exciting, what isn’t there to be inspired by.
When I’m conceptualizing a piece I go to a childlike place, I experiment and play with ideas, colors, and shapes. That’s the key, play. You have to allow yourself to play. That’s the secret to why “every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
